Saints WR Michael Thomas reacts to the Derek Carr signing
One player for the Saints is very glad to have Derek Carr in the building.
The New Orleans Saints have finally done it: They have their new franchise quarterback after agreeing to a contract with 4-time Pro Bowler Derek Carr.
And one star on the Saints offense is already excited about the addition, as wide receiver Michael Thomas weighed in on social media:
Carr's situation with the Las Vegas Raiders fizzled over the past year. Ultimately, both sides were ready to move on from each other. The Saints quickly swooped in once the Raiders allowed him to seek a new opportunity. Thomas is surely happy that they did.
New Orleans was aggressive with Carr from the beginning. During the week he was allowed to explore, they met with him twice. They made it clear to him that they felt that he was their best option for the future. Clearly, he agreed with them.
Now, he is set to be their QB after agreeing to a 4-year deal with the Saints.
For Thomas, his situation with the Saints is intriguing. They reworked his deal in order to have the flexibility to move on from him during this off-season. Now, could he remain in the cards for New Orleans?
That definitely sounds like a possibility considering his response to this move.
Everyone knows he still has immense talent, but his availability has been the issue over the past three years. Thomas must stay healthy and perform for the Saints this season if they keep him around.
The former Pro Bowler believes that Carr can help the team succeed going forward. That should pump up Saints fans.
