Talk about a great way to usher in a new stadium. The Buffalo Bills will hold their first regular season contest at new Highmark Stadium on Thursday night. It’s home on a short week against one of the most heavy hitting opponents from the NFC — the Detroit Lions. The Lions are fresh off a close call against the New Orleans Saints and looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2025.

Buffalo? They’re looking to build off the momentum of a breakthrough in Houston (finally…after all these years). So how will tonight’s game go? Here are three bold predictions for the Bills’ Week 2 contest against the Lions.

Deone Walker posts multiple sacks of QB Jared Goff

Walker looks like a prolific hit for the Bills. He’s trending towards the upper ends of his possible outcomes as a mid-round draft choice. I think in this contest, against a pocket passer like Jared Goff, Walker is in line for a big spot. He can disrupt throwing lanes and close in a hurry.

To this point in his career, Walker has just two sacks to his name. I think he can get that tonight.

DJ Moore posts another 40+ yard touchdown reception

Buffalo had just four touchdown receptions of 40+ yards in the entire 2025 regular season. Moore hit a big one in the team’s Week 1 victory in Houston. I’d bet he goes off for another one. The secondary in Detroit is somewhat shaky between the team’s star safeties returning from injuries and an uninspiring cornerback room.

I think that’s enough to get another big hitter on the board — especially in a game in which I’m expecting all the points. The Allen/Moore connection is just getting started but as Joe Brady continues to open things up, I think the opportunities will be there.

The Buffalo Bills win 32-26 on a late touchdown drive

Josh Allen doing Josh Allen things? What better way to pen the first line of the new stadium than for Allen to put on his cape and pull it out. Expect a lot of fourth down attempts. Expect a lot of points. And I think the last of both will come with the ball in Allen’s hands. With the Bills trailing late, Allen uses his legs to pick up a key fourth down conversion before ultimately logging game-winning score.

If I’m right, do me a favor and don’t reach out and ask for next week’s lotto numbers.
