Josh Allen and the Bills may receive an opportunity they can’t screw up after getting tied to latest Lamar Jackson injury update
The Bills face a tough stretch of games after a bad loss to the Patriots, but may have been given a reprieve thanks to Lamar Jackson’s latest injury update.
The Buffalo Bills dropped their first game of the season by losing to the New England Patriots in Week 4 and now they face a tough stretch of games over the next month.
It all starts with the Los Angeles Rams in primetime in Week 5. Then, it’s the upstart Las Vegas Raiders, the always dangerous Baltimore Ravens, and the Minnesota Vikings, a team that has arguably the best defense in football.
Those four teams combine for a 12-4 record and each one has its own strength. But the Bills may have caught a break when it comes to their Week 7 matchup against the Ravens.
And that comes in the form of Lamar Jackson’s latest injury update. Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Jackson could miss multiple games after suffering an ankle sprain in the first half against the Tennessee Titans. Jackson didn’t return to the game and was seen in a walking boot afterward, which adds a significant layer to the injury.
Rapoport says there’s an outside chance Jackson plays against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 5 and that could trickle down to more games in the foreseeable future. The injury isn’t considered to be long-term nor does it need surgery, however, which is obvioulsy good news for the Ravens.
At the same time, however, ankle injuries are very fickle. Especially for a quarterback like Jackson who uses his mobility as a dangerous weapon. The last thing the Ravens want to do is turn a short-term injury into a long-term one by forcing him back onto the field too early.
That, along with the fact that Tyler “Snoop” Huntley is a capable backup, sets up a potential scenario where Jackson misses a few games and that could certainly include the game against the Bills.
Josh Allen and the Bills have to take advantage of a Lamar Jackson-less Ravens team if it comes to fruition
Josh Allen and the Bills squandered a golden opportunity in 2025 by failing to make serious headway in a postseason that was without Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, and Jackson.
Neither the Chiefs, Bengals, or Ravens made it to the dance. But instead of conquering the AFC and reaching the Super Bowl, Josh Allen’s four turnovers sealed the Bills’ fate against the Broncos in the divisional round.
The Bills couldn’t even make it to the AFC Championship Game, which is a total failure on their part.
If Jackson can’t play, the Bills have to take advantage of the situation. There’s no other way around it. If they can’t, it’ll be another colossal failure and one that could certainly impact how the AFC’s playoff race shapes up.
