Bengals’ Ja’Marr Chase publishes apology for spitting on Jalen Ramsey after serving one-game suspension
Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase apologizes for his actions.
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase has published an apology letter for spitting on Pittsburgh Steelers defensive back Jalen Ramsey during the Bengals’ Week 11 loss in Pittsburgh. Chase posted the letter to his Instagram.
“To my team, fans, the Bengals organization, the Steelers organization and the NFL community, please know I’m speaking from my heart when I say I take full responsibility for my actions during last Sunday’s game at Pittsburgh,” Chase wrote. “What I did was wrong. The circumstances don’t matter. My passion for the game is no excuse. There’s zero place in our sport — or in life — for that level of disrespect.”
Chase went on to apologize to the Steelers, his coaches, teammates, and fans for his action that got him suspended for one game without pay.
“This has been a tough season with some incredibly hard losses. We’ve all been frustrated. But instead of stepping up with calm, class and leadership, I let you down. My having to sit out yesterday’s game makes my actions even more inexcusable. I won’t let it happen again.”

Ja’Marr Chase now returns to Bengals following suspension
Chase’s suspension was officially lifted by the NFL on Monday, a day after Cincinnati lost, 20-26, to the New England Patriots. He can return practicing with the Bengals as they get set to face the Baltimore Ravens on Thanksgiving night.
While Chase was suspended, he had to improvise his training schedule so he could hit the ground running upon returning. He told Dan Hoard, who calls Bengals games on the radio for the team, he worked out at the University of Cincinnati’s Sheakley Indoor Practice Facility during his suspension.
Chase’s 79 receptions on the season are second in the NFL despite missing a full game, and he’s still fifth in the league in receiving yards (861). He’ll look to add many more to both categories in his first game back on Thursday in Baltimore, quite possibly with Joe Burrow as his quarterback.
