Amarius Mims was selected No. 18 overall in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft by the Bengals. Prior to the NFL, Mims spent three years at Georgia (2021-23) and started just eight of the 29 games he played for the Bulldogs. He came off the bench at right tackle during most of his first two years with the program. His first two starts were in the 2022-23 College Football Playoff in which Georgia won the title. He began the 2023 season starting at RT, but an ankle injury in Week 3 took him out for six games. He would play four games until re-injuring the ankle. He later sustained a hamstring injury at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Cincinnati was open to starting Mims immediately, but a preseason pec injury derailed those plans. He ended up making his debut in Week 3 of the 2024 season after starting RT Trent Brown suffered a season-ending knee injury. The rookie started the next 13 games.

Mims proved his durability in 2025 by starting all 17 games, and by the end of the season, he was entering a new level. He allowed just 10 pressures and didn’t give up a sack in the Bengals’ final six games. The second-year pro was also showing more dominance blocking in the run game as well.

Contract details

Mims is entering the third year of his four-year, $15,371,558 rookie contract. He will earn a guaranteed base salary of $1,075,000 this season along with a guaranteed roster bonus of $533,707, bringing his total cash figure to $2,192,414 for the year. When adding on his signing bonus proration of $1,999,829, Mims’ salary cap hit for the season is $4,192,243.

Roster outlook

Cincinnati has several high-quality players on its roster. Mims is on the precipice of being the next one, and his potential is that of an All-Pro. There just aren’t very many offensive linemen as big, and strong as he is who can move so effortless like he can. His hand usage was always solid, and it’s gotten even better after two years of development.

The hype around Mims is palpable for all the right reasons. It’s been a long time since the Bengals have had an elite lineman despite their history of great blockers. The expectation is for Mims to take a sizable leap this year, and lead the way for the entire line to a higher standard.
