Cincinnati’s first external addition to its roster didn’t come in March, nor February. It happened mere days after the 2025 season ended, and it brought in a player from another professional league.
Dohnte Meyers Player Profile
Age: 25
Year: 1
Position: Wide receiver
College: Delta State University
Jersey Number: 81
Dohnte Meyers was signed by the Bengals on Jan. 8. Meyers spent five years in college, playing two years at Presbyterian (2018-19) and then three years at Delta State (2020-22). He was First Team All-Gulf South Conference in 2022 when he recorded 43 receptions for 491 yards and five touchdowns. He went undrafted in the 2023 NFL draft, but attended rookie minicamp with the Atlanta Falcons as a tryout player.
Meyers ended up in the CFL later in 2023, signing a futures contract with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in October of that year. His debut came almost a year later in which he caught eight passes for 101 yards. He played in 19 games and two playoff contests over the last two seasons for the Roughriders, totaling 89 receptions for 1,405 yards and nine touchdowns. He was also featured on special teams as a kickoff and punt returner during the 2025 season, racking up 319 kickoff return yards on 11 run-backs, and 94 punt return yards on nine attempts.
Contract details
Meyers signed a three-year, $3,110,000 deal with the Bengals as he was classified as a college free agent. His base salary for 2026 is the minimum $885,000. He’s also getting $10,000 as a signing bonus. His cash figure for the year is $895,000, and his salary cap hit will be $888,333.
Roster outlook
Cincinnati didn’t waste very much time bringing Meyers into the building this offseason. He was incredibly productive in the CFL for two years, and also has special teams promise as a returner. He turns 26 right before training camp, and is quite cheap to roster for the next few seasons.
Meyers isn’t technically a rookie, but he’s never been on an NFL roster this far into the offseason before. His background makes him a fascinating player in a receivers room that’s currently 12-deep.
Half the room is likely fighting for one spot, but Meyers’ production and experience at his previous stop makes him a serious player to break through if there’s room.
Roster odds: 15%
