Former Cincinnati Bengals tight end Hayden Hurst, now a member of the Carolina Panthers, has been diagnosed with post traumatic amnesia.

Per Jerry Hurst, Hurst's father, the diagnosis was a result of a hit Hurst took back against the Chicago Bears on November 9, and that they don't know when he'll be able to return. Hurst suffered a concussion from the hit he took nearly a month ago and hasn't played since.

This is a scary situation for Hurst, who's been through a tremendous amount of adversity throughout his life already. He dealt with depression and suicidal thoughts while in college, and has been an advocate of mental health over the past few years.

After playing a season in Cincinnati in 2022, Hurst signed a three-year, $21.75 million contract with the Panthers this past offseason. The 30-year old former first-round pick has recorded 18 receptions for 184 yards in nine games played this season.

A situation like this is so much bigger than football, and Hurst is one of the more beloved former Bengals players still active in the NFL. Here's to a speedy and full recovery!
