A bit of injury news has surfaced for the Cleveland Browns just a few weeks after their season ended in the wild-card round of the NFL playoffs.

Much of the 2023 season you probably noticed that RB Kareem Hunt was often on the injury report with a groin. Well, he’s now had surgery to fix that issue.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Hunt underwent sports hernia surgery to repair a ruptured adductor that hindered him during the season.

Cleveland brought in Hunt as some running insurance when they lost RB Nick Chubb for the season early on in Week 2. Hunt was the backup to Jerome Ford and was used in short-yardage situations a ton, as well as the end zone.

After originally not expecting to be back with the Browns in 2023, Hunt had 411 yards rushing and nine touchdowns. He ran the ball at just three yards per carry, but as mentioned he was a short yardage back before anything else.

Hunt was on a one-year deal in 2023 so his future with the team is bleak. If the Browns can work out things with Chubb, then Chubb and Jerome Ford will likely be your top two backs.

Still, Hunt took a big step toward being ready for the 2024 season. Whether it is in Cleveland or elsewhere, he can still give meaningful contributions.
