Broncos’ Nik Bonitto had an unforgettable message after learning about teammate Alex Singleton’s cancer diagnosis
Quite the response from Nik Bonitto.
The Denver Broncos proved victorious in the ugly matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders, but a win is a win. What makes the victory even more impressive is what linebacker Alex Singleton was going through.
Singleton said that an NFL drug test had flagged elevated hCG levels, which are an indicator of testicular cancer, prompting further evaluation. Doctors confirmed that it was, in fact, a cancerous tumor, which was removed after the contest. Singleton played the entire contest while battling cancer and logged nine tackles in the victory. The star linebacker shared an update on X (Twitter).
“I shared this news with our team this morning. I’m grateful for everyone’s support and can’t wait to get back on the field soon,” Singleton wrote. “Go Broncos!”
Teammate and superstar edge rusher Nik Bonitto weighed in on the devastating update, commending Singleton for what he was able to do on the field.
“Him still being able to go out there and help us win, it was really amazing,” Bonitto said.
Only a few inside the building fully knew what Singleton was going through.
“It was pretty crazy, there was probably a select few people that knew, probably only the guys in this group,” Bonitto said. “I’m happy he had successful surgery and hopefully the recovery goes well.”
Singleton has battled through injuries throughout his career
The talented linebacker has started every game for the Broncos this season and has totaled 89 combined tackles, a forced fumble, and three tackles for loss.
Singleton suffered a season-ending ACL tear in the 2024 season, once again playing through the tear. His resilience is unmatched, and it’s something that his teammates have loudly praised.
It’s another chapter in Singleton’s story of toughness and perseverance. From battling through injuries to now fighting cancer, he’s once again proven what it means to leave everything on the field for his team.
