The Detroit Lions’ loss to the Green Bay Packers last Sunday was not fun for anyone. The players had a bad day, the coaches had a bad day, and as we know from some of the wild overreactions, the fans had a bad day. But two guys had a worse day than anyone else. That was Brian Branh and Jameson Williams.
Brian Branch was fined $23,186 for throwing Tucker Kraft’s helmet
Yeah, he got caught in 4k on this one. It’s not so much the removal of the helmet that was the issue. That happens from time to time. It was the fact that he then threw the helmet. So Branch got fined twice for this game. $11,593 for taunting and $11,593 for unnecessary roughness.
Speaking of getting ejected, Branch did get ejected last year while in Lambeau, and he also got fined $20,256 for a helmet-to-helmet hit and flipping off Packers fans in that game. On top of that, Branch cleared the $70,o00 mark in fines last year and was by far the Lions’ most fined player. This fine pushed Branch over the $100,000 career mark when you factor in his 2023 fines, too.
As for Jameson Williams. We told you the league would be watching him like a hawk. At this time, we don’t know what he fine was for, but they’re calling it taunting. The fine was $11,593. Packers safety Xavier McKinney was also fined $11,593 for taunting.
