The Washington Commanders are not wasting any time on Black Monday. They let head coach Ron Rivera go in the morning and they're already setting up interviews for their open GM spot that they also opened Monday morning. Now they're sending out permission requests to interview coaches from playoff teams.
They sent one to the Rams to interview their defensive coordinator Raheem Morris and now they've sent two to the Lions to get permission to interview Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn.
Ok, here's how this works. Since the Lions are in the playoffs, the Commanders have to ask for permission to speak with their coordinators. If the Lions were to get eliminated on Sunday, the Lions will more than likely give the Commanders permission to set up an interview. the Commanders wont be able to do it until the Lions season is done though.
Since they seem to be moving so fast, they may not want to wait too long if the Lions are able to make it to the next round and keep going. We'll update you on any other team that reaches out to request an interview with Lions coordinators.
