Lions make multiple roster moves ahead of Commanders matchup, is Glasgow playing center in this game? Detroit loses edge rusher to the Dolphins
Get ready to spend the rest of your Saturday wondering what the Lions offensive line will look like on Sunday
The Detroit Lions will soon be boarding a plane to Washington to take on the Commanders, but first, they have made some roster moves to prepare for this game. Here’s what they did:
Activated S Daniel Thomas
This is a good get-back for the Lions. Thomas had been playing gunner really well, and he can help bring some balance to safety on defense with Kerby Joseph being out. This will take all of the pressure off of Thomas Harper, and they can share the load together.
Released S Jammie Robinson
This one is a bit surprising because we know Brad Holmes has had his eyes on this player for a while. If I had to guess, I would say that he’s back with the Lions on Monday when they re-sign him to the practice squad.
I think they want to see what they have there, but bringing Thomas back was a little more important than that right now.
Elevated OL Michael Niese from practice squad
It will be interesting to see what happens in this game. Like, who is playing center? We know the Lions wanted to try Trysan Colon there a little this week. Bringing up Niese makes you wonder a little about whether they’re actually going to go with that.
When Campbell discussed potential moves early in the week, Niese was one of the names he mentioned. In addition to guard, Niese has also taken snaps at center in the past two training camps. We’ll find out when the guys get on the field for warm-ups on Sunday.
Dolphins poach Andre Carter from Lions practice squad
This actually happened a couple of days ago, but it really flew under the radar with other news going on. The Dolphins poached Carter and signed him to their 53-man roster.
We haven’t actually seen Carter play for the Lions. He’d been here since August, but never got elevated. This is not a monumental move.
