The Detroit Lions will be playing in a huge game on Thursday night against NFC North rivals the Green Bay Packers. This game is going to have some playoff implications involved for both teams, so win is much needed. The Lions are banged up a bit, so they made some roster moves to help them out. Here's what they did:
Waived Loren Strickland
Totally hate this move. The hope now is that the Lions can get him back on the practice squad. If not, then the Lions lost out on a guy that I think could have been a really big help for them in the future on both special teams and defense. At the end of the day the Lions needed to clear a spot for Adams and they did that.
Update: The Lions have just signed Strickland to the practice squad
Elevated Jamal Adams from practice squad
Here we go. This one was kind of spoiled earlier in the week when Lions head coach Dan Campbell said he believed all four new Lions players would be helping on Thursday night. The interesting thing to watch for is what Adams will be doing in this game. He has a lot of history as a pass rushing safety and the Lions have been having him work with the linebackers since he got here.
Elevated Mitchel Agude from practice squad
We've been waiting to see this cat for a minute now after he had a pretty good training camp and preseason where it looked like he could make the 53-man roster. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a lot of him on Thursday night
Signed Maurice Alexander to 53-man roster
Ok this one is weird. Alexander was on the roster last week and then the Lions waived him and then signed him back tot he practice squad this week only to put him right back on the roster. Not sure what the angle was there, but he had a nice game on Thanksgiving.
