10 years from now, you'll be saying "you just had to be there" to your kids or grandkids when you're telling them about the potentially historic season that Detroit Lions edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson was having in 2024.
It was absolutely insane. For six weeks, there was no player who was more unstoppable on the defensive side of the ball than Hutchinson. 45 pressures and 7.5 sacks in five games, and then it ended on a play in Dallas where he broke his leg. That 45 pressures stood at number one for weeks despite Hutchinson not playing.
On Wednesday, NFL executives were asked to rank their top 10 edge rushers in the league by ESPN, and it was yet again another painful reminder of what could have been.
"I thought he would have been a finalist for [Defensive Player of the Year] last season if he hadn't gotten hurt."An AFC executive said. "Rare motor, exceptional length, great combination of athleticism and power."
There's just no question that this would have happened if he had played the whole season. He was well on his way to being Defensive Player of the Year and being an All-Pro and all of that. An NFC executive thinks he would put his name near the top of the list of edge rushers, too.
"He was on his way to the top three [with Garrett and Watt],"
Instead, he got hurt and missed the rest of the season, but remarkably, that didn't take him off the ranking. Execs put him at number seven this year.
We're going to see this year if Hutchinson can simply pick up where he left off and go get that award and jump into the top three and all that good stuff. The Lions' defense needs him to do it for sure.
Blockbuster 7 team trade proposal pushes Lions, Cowboys, Vikings, Giants, Colts, Packers, and Raiders into better positions with new starters
The NBA just pulled off one of the craziest trades in league history over Fourth of July weekend. They had a seven-team trade that revolved around the Rockets' deal to bring in Kevin Durant. Since it's early July and there is nothing going on in the NFL right now, we decided this was a perfect […]
