If you ask me right here and now at 9:33 AM on December 27th if I believe the Detroit Lions will win the Super Bowl this coming February, my answer is yes. I think this team has everything you need to get the job done and while the injuries suck, I think they can be overcome.
Sadly, not everyone in the Lions world feels the same way. Some really think those injuries were it for this team and that the season is going to come to a close early in the playoffs. Worse yet, some think this was it. This was the team that was supposed to win it, and they might not, and then the window is closed.
It couldn't be any farther from the truth, though. The Lions are such a young team, and they have this young offense that's just been firing on all cylinders with guys who have been under contract for a while now. The scary thing is that they might add to that unit in the offseason.
While the Lions' offense is great, and we know that, it's this defense that's going to lead this team into the future. They are still so incredibly young and have a lot of room to grow. How young? They're the third-youngest defense in the NFL.
It's quite a sight to see. This unit is this good and it's led by a bunch of guys that are in their second, third, or fourth years in the NFL. There aren't really a lot of seasoned vets on this unit.
Lions GM Brad Holmes has drafted exceptionally well. It's going to be interesting to see how this group grows and how they operate under whoever will be the defensive coordinator in 2025.
