The Kansas City Chiefs are on primetime TV for a second straight week as they play the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday Night Football.
Many of you Chiefs fans already know this, but there is almost always some type of celebrity or someone well-known in the Kansas City community that bangs the drum to kick off every game.
We know of Paul Rudd, Tech N9ne, Salvador Perez, Whit Merrifield, and so many more banging the drum in the past. However, on Monday night, the guest celebrity to bang the drum may be a bit controversial to some Chiefs fans.
There may be professional sports in Missouri and in Kansas City, but the residents of the two border states still take their college sports very seriously.
If you know anything about Kansas and Missouri college sports, you know that Kansas University fans, Kansas State University fans, and University of Missouri fans all dislike each other and the schools they root for.
Mizzou, Kansas, and Kansas State do not like each other in any sports and are all somewhat rivalries.
On Monday night, the Kansas University Men's head basketball coach, and 2022 National Champion, Bill Self will be banging the drum. To people that are Chiefs fans that do not live in the two states, or are not fans of those college teams, this could definitely stir the pot a bit.
No, it won't do anything to the game or have the fans fist-fighting in the stands, at least I don't think so or change the view of the teams, but it is cool to think about.
Chiefs fans are also fans of all three of those schools, and if there are Kansas State and Mizzou fans in the crowd, they could very well not cheer when the drum is banging.
This doesn't mean anything big, at all. It is something cool to think about though. I do know though, that no matter what school the fans at the game cheer for, they will all be cheering for one team by the end of the night.
