The Kansas City Chiefs are entering the 2023 season with one of the best bargain players in the NFL. That's right; the defending Super Bowl champions have one of the best bargain players in the NFL.

So, what does a bargain player mean, though? The Chiefs are paying a player but getting way more production than his contract would suggest he produce. Guys like Creed Humphrey, who is the best center in the league but is the 29th-highest-paid center in the league.

That is a bargain player, but that isn't the Choef's best bargain player or even the best bargain player in the league. That would be Patrick Mahomes, and one CBS Sports analyst agrees.

QB, Patrick Mahomes Is it really possible for the man with the biggest contract in NFL history to be underpaid? If his name is Patrick Mahomes, then yes. At just 27, the Chiefs star is already a virtual lock for the Hall of Fame, with two Super Bowl titles, two NFL MVPs, an 11-3 playoff record, and 192 touchdown passes in just five full years as a starter. While Mahomes has said several times he doesn't care about the money as long as his family is taken care of, he still has the chance to become the highest-paid NFL player ever again. Right now, Lamar Jackson holds that title. Just days before him, it was Jalen Hurts. Both of those guys deserve a lot of money, but I can't say they deserve more than the two-time Super Bowl MVP.

Right now, six quarterbacks get paid more than Mahomes, which is different when your quarterback is the best player in the league and has the potential to be the greatest ever to play. Soon, we could see him get another pay raise, but for now, he is one of the best bargain players in the NFL.

Chiefs, Mahomes

Chiefs are trying to make Patrick Mahomes a happy man

The Kansas City Chiefs are not in dire need of anything on their offense, in terms of needs. Now, could they get better at some positions, sure, but they don't necessarily need anything. Now the defense needs a few things. However, that doesn't mean the Chiefs won't be active in terms of looking for some […]
