The Kansas City Chiefs are getting a headstart on re-signing their practice squad players for the 2025 NFL offseason.

According to the NFL's personnel notice for Tuesday, February 11, the Chiefs have re-signed most of their practice squad players on reserve/future contracts. Kansas City technically had a week after Super Bowl LIX before practice squad contracts officially expired. Re-signing these 11 players now ensures that none reach free agency and can be signed away by other teams.

If you're unfamiliar with this type of contract, players who sign reserve/future deals do not join the team immediately. They won't officially join until the new league year begins in March. It's a little different for practice squad players, though. They'll still have exit meetings with the team, and so on. The Chiefs already signed a pair of outside free agents to reserve/future deals back in January.

Here's a look at the players re-signed on Tuesday. . .

Practice squad players re-signed by Kansas City:

  • WR Jason Brownlee
  • S Deon Bush
  • TE Baylor Cupp
  • DT Siaki Ika
  • OT Chukwuebuka Godrick
  • DT Fabien Lovett
  • QB Chris Oladokun
  • WR Justyn Ross
  • CB Darius Rush
  • CB Eric Scott
  • WR Tyquan Thornton

The most intriguing players here are DTs Siaki Ika and Fabien Lovett. Ika was a signing late in the season and hasn't spent much time in the system, while Lovett will now have a year under his belt. I'm also curious to see what players like Tyquan Thornton, Jason Brownlee, Eric Scott, and Darius Rush can do with a full offseason of work.

Chiefs practice squad players who could soon be free agents:

  • LB Swayze Bozeman
  • LB Cole Christiansen
  • TE Anthony Firkser
  • RB Keaontay Ingram
  • CB Nic Jones
  • CB Steven Nelson
  • WR Montrell Washington

I'm surprised not to see Swayze Bozeman back in the fold with the first round of reserve/future deals. Given how frequently he was elevated to the practice squad this year, I won't be shocked if he's inking a longer deal with the team.
