Kansas City Chiefs’ latest pre-draft visit is a buzzer-beater with a player who could be one of the biggest 2026 NFL Draft steals
The Kansas City Chiefs are hosting Louisville WR Chris Bell on a top-30 visit on Tuesday, just ahead of the pre-draft visit deadline. He could wind up as one of the steals of the 2026 NFL Draft.
The window for top-30 visits closes on Wednesday, but that isn’t stopping the Kansas City Chiefs from getting a few more prospects in the building.
According to multiple reports, the Chiefs are hosting Louisville WR Chris Bell on a top-30 visit on Tuesday. Bell posted on his Instagram story, showing himself at the Kansas City practice facility. This marks the 16th confirmed top-30 visit for the team.
Listed at 6-foot-2 and 227 pounds, Bell is a yard-after-the-catch and contested catch machine. He doesn’t have the most nuanced or advanced route tree, but he’s really good at finding ways to win. Bell has earned comparisons to receivers like A.J. Brown and Anquan Boldin, given his size and playstyle.
During his four-year career at Louisville, he recorded 151 catches for 2,166 yards and 12 touchdowns. He is coming off a 2025 campaign in which he totaled 917 receiving yards and six touchdowns. Even though his season was cut short by injury, Bell earned All-ACC Honors.
Chris Bell’s knee injury is the big question mark for Kansas City and other NFL teams
Bell suffered a torn ACL in November, so this top-30 visit likely falls under medical re-evaluation for the Chiefs. Before he suffered his injury, he was expected to be a first-round pick. As of mid-March, Bell was said to be ahead of schedule. Jordan Schultz reported that he was “progressing ahead of schedule and is now running and jumping.”
The big question teams will seek to answer is whether the knee injury is a long-term concern. He’ll almost certainly miss a portion of the offseason program, which might limit his contributions as a rookie. For a team like the Chiefs, that already has players like Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy, Tyquan Thornton, and Jalen Royals in place, the short-term impact might not matter so much.
Bell did not participate in any pre-draft testing, which leaves a bit of a question mark. NFL clubs are intrigued by the speeds he posted in-game in 2025. “GPS tracked him at low 4.3 speed in full pads,” Schultz wrote. At his size, that’s an extremely impressive time. It’s likely one of the reasons he has taken visits with 13 NFL teams to see where he is in his recovery.
