Las Vegas Raiders finally have their first of what every team goes through during training camp, and it’s one of the players you’d least expect
The Las Vegas Raiders had a scuffle at practice during Day 8 of training camp, and it was between Maxx Crosby and Kirk Cousins.
The Las Vegas Raiders are now a part of the handful of teams, if not half the league, that have already had a scuffle or fight at training camp practice. This is a yearly occurrence for just about every team.
When you go up against the same guys every day for a month, tensions are bound to get high at some point. Each one of these guys knows how to push the others’ buttons and get under their skin. It’s part of the game. This time, on Friday, in the Raiders’ eighth practice of camp, it was exactly that. However, it was between two guys you wouldn’t expect. You expect it from Maxx Crosby, because he loves that kind of thing. You don’t really expect that from Kirk Cousins.
“Yeah, that’s training camp. Those are two leaders of our team going at it, so that is part of camp,” head coach Klint Kubiak told reporters on Friday after practice. “Obviously, if you fight in the game, you throw a punch in the game, especially, you’re out of the game. So, we’ve got to be smart and treat it like a game.”
Cousins has been a fiery guy at camp. Not many expected to see that side of him when camp started, and Raider Nation was just being introduced to him. He’s not the same guy on the field that you see on Netflix’s ‘Quarterback.’ Instead, he knows how to fire his team up and talk some trash.
In this situation, though, Crosby had hit Cousins twice, and on the second one, Cousins got in Crosby’s face and grabbed his jersey. Obviously Madd Maxx wasn’t going to let that slide. That’s when the scuffle started.
Raiders scuffle at training camp isn’t anything to worry about
These two guys have some insane amount of respect for one another. The two have talked at great lengths about how good the other one is. Crosby has even said on his podcast how much he loves Cousins’ trash talk. Sometimes tempers flare, and that’s all it is, nothing more.
This team doesn’t have an issue now that they didn’t have before. There are no all-of-a-sudden chemistry issues. The Raiders are fine, and you should not overreact to anything like this.
