The Las Vegas Raiders are getting ready for their Week 5 game against the New England Patriots. And there’s good news about some of the injured players who were either out or got injured in their 30-27 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

On Wednesday, Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak began his media availability by addressing some injury concerns. Against the Kansas City Chiefs, right guard Jackson Powers-Johnson was out. He injured his groin against the New Orleans Saints. Then, during the game against KC, wide receiver Jalen Nailor was injured.

He was hit in the head and ended up getting a concussion. Nailor is in concussion protocol, so he obviously won’t practice Wednesday. Kubiak said JPJ will be back at practice. Also, second-year wide receiver Dont’e Thornton Jr. will be back at practice, too. So, the Raiders have good news heading into the Patriots game.

Now, with Jack Bech out for some time with a fractured forearm, and Nailor likely out for this week, the wide receiver room will look a bit bleak.

The Raiders will need some wide receiver help with Nailor and Bech out

They could really use some help at wide receiver this week. But Thornton probably won’t be up to speed to play a ton of snaps. Sure, you can take all the mental reps you want. Yes, he has been studying the playbook. But he’s not really done much so far this season. Remember, this is a new system for him.

This is a new staff and a new quarterback. Thornton likely won’t be caught up for some time. That doesn’t mean he won’t play. However, it does mean he likely won’t be someone they can count on every single snap. Regardless, this is great news. But to me, this does not change the fact that Vegas should definitely be looking at adding maybe two wide receivers this upcoming offseason.
