Las Vegas Raiders could have suffered another brutal loss after already losing to the San Francisco 49ers in Preseason Week 3
The Las Vegas Raiders lost their final preseason game to the San Francisco 49ers, and they could be taking an even bigger loss as Keyron Crawford sustained an injury.
The Las Vegas Raiders‘ preseason game in Week 3 against the San Francisco 49ers resulted in a loss. The Raiders are finishing the preseason 1-2 after losing to the Arizona Cardinals and 49ers, but beating the Houston Texans. However, they could still lose. On Thursday, Vegas saw rookie defensive end Keyron Crawford get injured.
Now, the status of the injury hasn’t been made public yet. However, late in the game, Crawford was slow to get up and had to be helped to the sideline by trainers. He looked like he had a limp and could not walk by himself. Crawford then went into the blue medical tent.
After a bit, a cart was waiting for him on the sideline to take him back to the locker room. Now, that doesn’t seem good. Fans may initially freak out, and rightfully so. This injury could be anything from one that has him miss a game, or maybe even a few, to one that will still have him ready to go Week 1 in a few weeks.
And, if he is injured for some time and has to miss some games, that’s a huge blow. The Raiders weren’t relying on Crawford to come in and be an immediate starter. Sure, that may be the long-term plan, as his potential is sky-high. But for now, he’s a depth piece. Let’s just start by saying the Raiders’ depth at that position is already not great. Crosby is coming back from an injury, and Koonce has dealt with his own fair share. Then it’s a bunch of unproven guys outside of Kwity Paye. They need Crawford.
Keyron Crawford had his best preseason showing vs. the 49ers
This preseason and even training camp haven’t been otherworldly for Crawford. In fact, he’s missed some practices for whatever reason. And, in the first and second games, he wasn’t as much of a factor as you hoped, considering who he was playing against. He had moments where he was too aggressive. His get-off at the snap would be fantastic, but he still wouldn’t be able to finish the play. Or, he would overplay the run and get burnt.
In this game, he came away with a sack. This was largely because of his motor. He didn’t really win the sack with any pass rush move; he just never stopped working and wrapped back around to the QB. That, mixed with the speed he brings, is something they’re going to need. The Raiders have to be hoping he is okay.
