Daniels, a former 2023 fourth-round pick by the Washington Commanders, arrives in Las Vegas as a young, athletic interior lineman looking for a chance to stick on an NFL roster. The Raiders continue to churn the bottom of their 90-man roster as they prepare for the final preseason game and the subsequent cuts to 53.
Daniels was the 118th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. He spent 2025 on the Miami Dolphins’ practice squad and ran a 4.99-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine. At 6’4, 305 pounds, he has the size and athleticism to compete along the offensive line.
However, he has yet to break through to an active roster. He’s bounced between the Houston Texans, Los Angeles Chargers, Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, and Dolphins on practice squads since being drafted.
Daniels’ college career at Utah
Daniels played five seasons at the University of Utah from 2018 to 2022, appearing in 49 career games with 43 starts. Those starts came at multiple positions: 18 at left guard, 14 at left tackle, and 11 at right tackle. That versatility is part of what made him a draft pick in the first place.
He earned a Pac-12 All-Conference first-team selection as a senior in 2022 and a second-team nod in 2021. In college, Daniels was a productive, well-regarded lineman, which is exactly why Washington spent a fourth-round pick on him.
What this means for the Raiders’ roster
This is a depth move, plain and simple. The Raiders want the best 90 players possible competing for the 53 available roster spots by the final preseason game. They are going to bring players in and out throughout the rest of the preseason, and Daniels is part of that churn.
He will likely compete along the interior of the offensive line, but to be completely honest, he’s probably not going to win a starting spot. That said, there will be 16 practice squad spots available. Daniels could be fighting for one of those. This is an opportunity for him to show why he was a fourth-round pick and that he still has it. The Raiders waived Justin Pickett with an injury designation, though no further details on the nature of the injury have been disclosed.
