Allow Jeff Hafley to ease your worries about one of the most pressing questions at Miami Dolphins’ OTAs
The news from Jeff Hafley is going to ease a lot of minds about a pressing question for the Miami Dolphins’ spring efforts.
There’s plenty of scar tissue with the Miami Dolphins fanbase.
So at the first sign of uncertainty, it’s understandable to recognize that the default assumption is something has gone awry. That was exactly the playbook that we watched unfold this past week with the news that All-Pro center Aaron Brewer was not spotted by the media for one of the team’s OTA periods. Brewer, of course, is in the midst of an ongoing contract negotiation with the team for a contract extension. And the assumption with media not spotting Brewer last week for many was that Brewer was stepping aside to try to “hold out” for a new deal. Allow Jeff Hafley to ease your concerns.
Jeff Hafley explains Aaron Brewer’s absence last week from Miami Dolphins OTAs was for family matters

“Family obligation that we knew about (last week). (Brewer) is here. He’ll be back out there today. We’ve got ’em all here!”, said Hafley when asked about Brewer’s absence last week.
The Miami Dolphins’ head coach would go on to concede that he’s had conversations with general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan about Brewer’s contract situation. The most Hafley gave the media scrum in regards to where things stand is that “hopefully that gets ironed out”.
Regardless of where things stand with the contract negotiations, the most important thing to know is that Brewer’s ongoing negotiation is not going to eat into time on task this summer. Brewer continuing to be in the fray is a great thing for not only Brewer. But for the young talents that will sandwich him into the offensive line when the regular season rolls around. Every rep counts. And Brewer not letting a negotiation come between him and getting those reps is, frankly, just another example of why he’s deserving of a deal. Allow me to join Hafley in his sentiment: hopefully that gets ironed out.
