‘Be like a goalie!’ — Former Miami Dolphins standout has a simple message for one of the team’s most important 2026 players
One former Miami Dolphins standout lays out exactly what he hopes to see from first-round rookie Kadyn Proctor.
The pecking order of most important Miami Dolphins to play well this season doesn’t necessarily start with first-round draft choice Kadyn Proctor. But he’s pretty close.
This regime’s first pick being a big hit would provide a massive confidence boost to a fan base desperate to believe. Former Miami Dolphins defender Kim Bokamper knows a little something about being a successful hit in the first round. And he, alongside fellow former Dolphin Joe Rose, recently dished on what they want to see out of Proctor in his rookie season. The comments came from the latest edition of their show, ‘Out To Pasture’.

“I’m happy with the where where they’ve got Kadyn Proctor right now. They’re going to put him playing guard. He’s not going to be a guard for long. Probably probably the next year, he’s going to be over in the right tackle. But as a rookie coming in the first year, you got Paul on one side, you got Aaron Brewer on the other side. (They) can babysit with that guy. And all he’s got to do is — I’ve been watching the (World Cup). You got to be like a goalie, you got to just get big! You got to play big; you got to get a big body out there. Just play big and stop what’s coming your way.”

Bokamper makes two great points. The first being that the Dolphins have put Proctor in a wonderful position to have strong mentorship. The influence of Paul and Brewer on either side of him should give him every opportunity to be the other half of Bokamper’s observation. Yes, Jonah Savaiinaea had the same structure last year. But Paul was a first-year starter in his own right in 2025.
Be powerful. Play big. Let the rest take care of itself from there. Proctor’s not going to concede a whole lot of pressure down the middle. He’s got a massive gravitational pull from that standpoint. So if he can indeed “be like a goalie” and get big, a log of his best qualities are going to jump off the tape.
And if we get that, we’re going to have a very exciting affirmation of the vision the Dolphins are getting from Jon-Eric Sullivan and Jeff Hafley. Rose, for what it’s worth, already sounds like he’s in, too.
