The Miami Dolphins may be catching a break after not getting a single one on Sunday against the Vikings
The Miami Dolphins didn’t get a single break once the game kicked off against the Vikings in Week 4. They may already be getting one (or two) for Week 5.
Week 4 for the Miami Dolphins was a tough day at the office.
The defense played admirably well. But the special teams effort too often put the Vikings on short fields. And Miami’s offense wasn’t able to muster 40 plays from scrimmage. It was a grind. And when Miami did have opportunities, they didn’t catch the breaks in the game that could have pulled out a victory. But if you’re willing to look ahead, you’ll find the Dolphins may already be in position to catch a break (or tw0) for Week 5.
The Miami Dolphins’ Week 5 matchup against Cincinnati features major questions for both Bengals star receivers

“Chase is set to enter the concussion protocol. He may or may not be able to play against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. Higgins, meanwhile, will now be trying to play through a strain in his groin. It’s far from a guarantee that he will be able to heal in time for the team’s trip down to Miami…Cincinnati woke up Sunday with just four healthy receivers on their active roster.
Chase and Higgins were only flanked up by Dohnte Myers and Mitch Tinsley. Once both starters exited, Those two were all who remained. Colbie Young is also on the active roster, but he was out Sunday with a knee injury he suffered back in Week 3.
If neither Chase, Higgins, nor Young can play against the Dolphins, the cupboard gets awfully bare. Cincinnati has three receivers on its practice squad, including Ke’Shawn Williams, who was waived last week in order to fit Tinsley on the 53-man roster.”

The Dolphins did catch a break in Week 4 by not drawing WR Justin Jefferson due to an ankle injury. But once the game kicked off on Sunday, they didn’t get much luck at all. A Chris Bell toe out of bounds. A phantom tip of a punt that erased a roughing the punter call. There were near misses all throughout the game. None of them broke Miami’s way.
Both Chase & Higgins are in question for Week 5
If the Dolphins end up drawing a Bengals offense with neither Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins? Consider it a MAJOR break. Now, that’s no sure thing. Chase will have a full week to try to work his way through concussion protocol. And Higgins was injured late and unable to return against the Jaguars in a pivotal moment — how quickly can he rebound?
The Dolphins have actually been quite successful defending wide receivers this season — and not having either star to defend would certainly change the math on the rest of the defensive effort. Keep your eyes peeled here. It may be a break for Miami after not getting a single one against the Vikings on Sunday.
