The Miami Dolphins roster churn swaps out two—including adding a familiar face for head coach Jeff Hafley
The Miami Dolphins’ churning of the roster mixed up a pair of spots on Wednesday.
The churning of the roster is an inevitability for all 32 franchises as we get into the swing of training camp. For the Miami Dolphins, it’s probably fair to expect a more active than average effort to turn over pieces.
Miami is looking for as many chances to catch lightning in a bottle as possible. And you can only do that if you’re persistently hunting new stones to turn over. General manager Jon-Eric Sullivan was back in that mindset on Wednesday, as the team added two more names to their ranks. And one of them has plenty of history with Jeff Hafley.
The Miami Dolphins replace an injured defensive tackle, add a familiar face for Jeff Hafley
The defensive tackle addition of Fatorma Mulbah brings an athletic big man to the front to replace the injured Rene Konga. Konga joined the Miami Dolphins with a high-price tag of guarantees among undrafted rookies from the 2026 NFL Draft. He’ll now essentially need a redshirt year after being placed on injured reserve.
But the fascinating story here is the waiver claim of Jeremiah Franklin. He played his college ball at…Boston College. Meaning the head coach who brought him to the program during recruiting was none other than Jeff Hafley.
Franklin was a 3-star recruit before signing with BC, and he enjoyed a career year in 2025 during his final year of college. Franklin posted 49 receptions for 506 yards and 2 scores last season. During the pre-draft process, he ran a 4.89s 40-yard dash at his Pro Day as a 6-foot-3, 225 pound tight end. Miami’s tight end room has plenty of faces already. But if any coach in the NFL knows where Franklin could potentially help this squad, it’s Hafley.
