The game was tough on both sides of the football. On offense, the Vikings only mustered 75 yards with the Cardinals' defense getting to quarterback Sam Darnold multiple times on creative blitzes.

Defensively it was a different story. They allowed 406 yards, but just 5-13 on third down and an impressive one of six in the red zone and stopped them on their only fourth down opportunity. They were doing so without a couple of key players down the stretch.

Kevin O'Connell gives updates on injured Vikings

After the game, Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell updated the media on the two injured defensive players in cornerback Stephon Gilmore and edge rusher Pat Jones II.

"Injury updates for you guys. Stephon Gimore did get a left hamstring [injury], did not return. I'm hoping we avoided a longer-term issue there. He was thinking about possibly coming back in. But able to hold on to the win there, guys making some plays, stepping up.

"Pat Jones II did have the right knee, was able to come back in and finish the game."

Not having Gilmore was a big deal, as both Shaquill Griffin had to play more and Fabian Moreau saw the heaviest workload with the Vikings. He did have a rough stretch where he committed a pass interference on third and long and then allowed the only Cardinals touchdown to Marvin Harrison Jr.

Keeping an eye on Gilmore will be something to keep tabs on over the next few days, as they will need him throughout the rest of the season on the outside.
