Minnesota Vikings make their general manager hire official, raising questions about what happens with Rob Brzezinski
The Minnesota Vikings have officially named their general manager, and it isn’t interim GM Rob Brzezinski.
In a surprising turn of events, the Minnesota Vikings have named their general manager, and it’s Seattle Seahawks assistant general manager Nolan Teasley.
Of the five candidates the Vikings brought in for in-person interviews, Teasley was the only one without connections to the organization. Rob Brzezinski was the interim general manager, Terrance Gray and Reed Burckhardt spent over a decade with the Vikings as scouts, and John McKay worked with Kevin O’Connell in Los Angeles.
Minnesota Vikings name Nolan Teasley general manager
It’s a big hire for the Vikings, who wanted a heavy scouting background for their general manager. Teasley has that, having spent the last 14 years with the Seattle Seahawks. He started as a pro scout in 2013 as an intern in the scouting department. After that, he’s worn multiple hats.
- 2013: Intern
- 2014-2016: Pro personnel scout
- 2017: Assistant director of pro personnel
- 2018-2022: Director of pro personnel
- 2023-2026: Assistant general manager
Considering that Teasley was a part of three Super Bowl teams, including winning the Super Bowl last year after a fantastic draft and signing Sam Darnold. He comes to a Vikings team that needs a good voice with a scouting background.
The big question here is simple: where does this leave Rob Brzezinski? He was the interim general manager after they fired Kwesi Adofo-Mensah. He’s been with the organization since 1999, and Mark Wilf has been honest about wanting the general manager to report directly to ownership. How they end up making things work with Brzezinski will be interesting.
We will have more on this story over the coming days.
