The Minnesota Vikings are still looking for a new general manager, and they took a crucial step toward finding one. On Thursday, reports surfaced that the Vikings have concluded their second round of interviews, which were conducted in person.

The Vikings initially conducted numerous interviews before narrowing the candidate field down to five, with one of them being internal.

This is where things are going to be interesting. We don’t know what the Vikings are going to do from here. One thing that hasn’t been mentioned by the local media is who the finalists are. There are five candidates who interviewed in person with Mark and Zygi Wilf for the job.

  • Los Angeles Rams assistant general manager John McKay
  • Seattle Seahawks assistant general manager Nolan Teasley
  • Denver Broncos assistant general manager Reed Burckhardt
  • Buffalo Bills assistant general manager Terrance Gray

Of those, three have been in the Vikings building for at least a decade, with both Gray and Burckhardt having been scouts for the Vikings before they got hired elsewhere. McKay spent time with head coach Kevin O’Connell with the Rams when he was the offensive coordinator, marking four candidates with some ties to the organization. The only one who doesn’t have any ties is Teasley, but it shouldn’t be a surprise to see him on the list. The Seahawks did just win the Super Bowl.

There are two likely paths for the Vikings here. They could just offer the job to one of the five, with Brzezinski likely being the top option. The other path forward is a final round of interviews with a narrowed candidate list, talking more in-depth about their plan to move the Vikings forward.

Whatever their path is, the Vikings will likely have a general manager soon.
