The New England Patriots held their goodbye press conference celebrating Bill Belichick's 24 years with the team.

Belichick has often been described as stoic during his tenure as head coach in New England. He's not exactly known for lightening the mood during press conferences, but that's exactly what he did to kick off his final presser with the Patriots. With emotions high and his time in New England coming to an end, he chose to break character and have a bit of fun with the media.

After he got settled at the lectern, he started things off cracking a joke about the media and one of his former players.

"Good morning," Belichick began. "I haven't seen this many cameras since we signed (Tim) Tebow."

Check out the video clip below:

The joke was met with just a few chuckles because it was so entirely out of character for the 71-year-old coach.

Belichick, of course, infamously signed Tebow to the Patriots roster in June of 2013 after the QB had made his mark in the NFL with the New York Jets and Denver Broncos. They wound up releasing him in 53-man roster cutdowns just a few months later.

If that joke wasn't a proper send-off from Belichick, I'm not sure what would constitute such a thing.
