Head coach Dennis Allen and his handling of the New Orleans Saints quarterback situation has to be the most puzzling aspect of what has been a disappointing Saints season.

And heading into Week 11, Allen continues to provide more confusion. On Thursday, he announced quarterback Andy Dalton as the starter for Sunday's contest against the Los Angeles Rams. The only problem is Dalton hasn't been very good all season.

Dalton, 35, has yet to put together a productive stretch of football. His 2-5 record as a starter this season has been filled with numerous lows and few highs. He's completed 65 percent of his passes for 1,559 yards, 11 touchdowns, and seven interceptions.

In Week 10, Dalton threw two interceptions in a 20-10 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Partially contributing to Dalton's continued starts is the state of former starter Jameis Winston. He allegedly isn't at 100 percent, and Allen isn't willing to risk that.

"Jameis Winston isn't 100 percent," Allen said, "and I not sure if he will be 100 percent."

The only problem with this line of thinking is Allen was willing to risk Winston in Week 2.

Regardless, Allen's decision to stick with Dalton is puzzling. Things haven't looked great with him and the helm, and it's safe to assume they won't get better come Sunday. Dalton remains the Saints' No. 1 problem on offense, and there is no solution in sight.
