A.J. Brown finally makes Jalen Hurts admission following Philadelphia Eagles’ trade with Patriots
Jalen Hurts and A.J. Brown’s relationship seemed to be rocky towards the end of Brown’s time in Philadelphia. But was it actually? Or was it all a portrayal by the media? A.J. Brown tells the story.
The Philadelphia Eagles finally ripped the band-aid off on Monday, saying goodbye to superstar wide receiver A.J. Brown in exchange for a 2028 first-round pick, and a 2027 5th round pick from the New England Patriots.
The whole reason that the Eagles are trading Brown and taking on over $40 million in dead cap over the next two seasons is that Brown and the Eagles no longer fit together. We have visual evidence of the displays between Nick Sirianni and Brown, but there were tons of rumblings about the relationship between Brown and quarterback Jalen Hurts as well, and Brown has finally addressed those rumors.

A.J. Brown opens up about his relationship with Jalen Hurts
“Not as close as we once was,” said Brown on the 7 pm in Brooklyn Podcast with Maria Taylor. “I believe that’s fine. It’s like there’s no bad blood. There’s actually still a lot of love. “I wanted to see and accomplish all the things that [he] wanted to accomplish. I didn’t truly understand why our friendship became public, or the center of everybody’s attention when it came to football, because looking back on it, we haven’t been as close as we were for a couple of years now, but that didn’t stop anything.”
“We still competed, we still pushed each other, we still led the team, so it was just kind of strange, you know. People just got so fixated on a relationship and wanted to talk about, maybe from the history of these players, but that wasn’t what this was.”
A lot of the talk about Brown and Hurts stems from the long-winded report that ESPN dropped after the annual league meetings, which stated that many inside the locker room, on the coaching and player side, began to be turned off by Hurts and his actions. Many assumed that one of the players would be A.J. Brown. He didn’t rake the bait, though.
A.J. Brown shuts down rumors of a spat between him and Jalen Hurts
“Nothing happened. Nothing happened,” added Brown. “People just grow apart, and nothing happened between him and our families, or anything. Nothing like that ever happened. Life happens, you just look up sometimes, and you just find yourself drifting away, and that’s fine. I think both parties accepted that.”
