The Philadelphia Eagles defense absolutely dominated quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.
But what exactly made the Eagles' defense look so good out there?
According to linebacker Zack Baun, it came down to how well-prepared the defensive unit was leading up to the game.
"I told Oren Burks in the locker room, 'I've never seen this team this ready for a game,'" Buan said. "We were so well-prepared that it was easy for us to feel confident and just go out and execute."
It helped that the Eagles had been to the Super Bowl before, so head coach Nick Sirianni pulled out the notes he took of all of the little details from the team's last SB appearance versus the Chiefs in Arizona.
Baun also noted that Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio showed the team the film from a Super Bowl he coached and lost in New Orleans.
Every extra step the Eagles took during their preparation appeared to have worked out better than could have imagined.
Baun, himself, finished the game leading the team with seven tackles and an interception.
In all, Philly's defense recorded six sacks, one forced fumble, and two interceptions as the Eagles went on to win 40-22.
"I think No. 1, defense wins championships," Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts said following the victory. "Defense wins championships. And we saw how they played today. We saw the difference they made in the game. They gave us opportunities … and we were able to do what we do."
