Just as they did in the 2024 season, the Florida Gators have the toughest schedule in the 2025 season. It didn't phase them during their difficult stretch to end last year when they went 3-2, and those losses came with quarterback DJ Lagway severely injuring his hamstring at the end of the second quarter against the Georgia Bulldogs.

With Lagway starting in the last four games of the season, the Gators swept LSU, Ole Miss, Florida State, and Tulane. His presence and growth helped the Gators take a major step forward.

DJ Lagway has the right mentality ahead of 2025 season

Lagway's growth as the starting quarterback was such a big deal to end last season, especially since he couldn't run due to the injured hamstring that required a special sleeve to stay on the field. Anthony Richardson wore one during the 2022 season when he injured his hamstring in a similar way.

Speaking at SEC Media Days, Lagway had a great response to dealing with pressure which shows his maturity and should give everyone hope

"Pressure is a privilege. Once you have pressure that means people are counting on you to do big things. I'm always excited when people say pressure. That's why I just love game day atmosphere because it feels like all eyes are on you, and you got to put on a show."

How many true sophomore quarterbacks have this kind of maturity? It's not something you see too often, but it's special when you do. Lagway is one of the highest-ranking quarterback recruits in the history of the program.

Not only is Lagway ready to perform on the field, but off of it as well. The hardest schedule in the nation isn't going to phase Lagway, nor should it. He's got all the ability in the world to thrive and lead the Gators to a potential playoff spot.
