The biggest wildcard in the 2025 NFL Draft will be the medical evaluation process for some of the class's biggest names and most talented players. Several players with top-15 overall grades dealt with torn ACLs, shoulder tears, or other ailments requiring surgery.
That includes Ohio State tackle Josh Simmons. One of the season's most impressive blindside blockers, Simmons, tore his ACL against Oregon in October. Although he may not be cleared for on-field contact until August, teams have been expressing positive comments about Simmons' health.
Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports reported, "Simmons' knee looks great upon medical rechecks."
Here's the full quote from Jones in his only mock draft of the season, where Simmons lands 13th overall to Miami.
"Multiple sources have indicated Simmons' knee looks great upon medical rechecks, so he passes there. His play is a good scheme fit for Miami too. Many believe there's a chance he could have been OT1 in this draft. I know some teams also wouldn't take him this high, but Miami takes a chance on a position of need."
While I think landing spot makes sense if Miami doesn't view 2024 second-round Patrick Paul as a tackle-only option, it's a new pairing we haven't seen projected often. Simmons' stock in user mock drafts had bottomed out to 26th overall earlier this month.
When healthy, Simmons would be my top pure left tackle prospect in this class.
