Dynamic 2025 NFL Draft prospect draws surprising comparison to New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara
Ashton Jeanty is one of the most exciting running back prospects in quite some time. Ashton Jeanty is one of the most exciting running back prospects in quite some time. He was a Heisman Trophy finalist, and many people felt like he deserved to win it for his supreme domination for Boise State a season ago. Alas, Travis Hunter won the award, but Jeanty's NFL Draft stock continues to impress.
Jeanty is often mocked in the first twelve picks. Some mock drafts have him go as early as fourth overall.
No matter what – you can lock him in as a first-round pick and potential NFL franchise cornerstone.
Ashton Jeanty's comparison to Alvin Kamara
Pro Football Focus has a strong comparison for Jeanty. It is actually Alvin Kamara, due to Jeanty's patience, footwork, and big play ability. His game reminds them of the former Pro Bowl RB in New Orleans.
Jeanty is a total-package backfield playmaker with impressive balance, footwork, vision, explosiveness and big-play ability — reminiscent of Alvin Kamara. He is a first-round offensive weapon who can succeed behind any blocking scheme. — PFF
Our own Ryan Roberts, of A to Z Sports, had a fun, unique comp for Jeanty that involved the Saints star running back. His comparison blended together two fan favorites that have dawned the black and gold over the past decade.
Ashton Jeanty (Boise State) – If Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram did the Fusion Dance
Jeanty is such a difficult player to find a comparison for considering he just doesn’t have a ton of weaknesses. As a runner, there are some parallels to Ingram. He runs with tremendous contact balance, physicality, and low center of gravity. As a pass game weapon, Jeanty is a lot closer to Kamara than Ingram. Jeanty is an all around weapon who does most things very well. — Ryan Roberts
Another impressive comparison for Jeanty
Tyler Forness compared Jeanty's profile to LaDanian Tomlinson. Tomlinson is regarded as one of the most talented runners in league history.
It feels crazy to compare Jeanty to a Hall of Fame running back, but this comparison comes from a strictly playstyle perspective. Jeanty has a similar build to Tomlinson, jump cuts at a high level and is a true three-down running back.
That skillset is also why Jeanty is likely going to be a first-round pick. He's drawing comparisons to Barry Sanders from a production perspective and it's completely valid. Jeanty is the type pf player who could transform your offense from day one. — Forness
Regardless, anyone can see that Jeanty has some upside that is not seen from a RB prospect in every class. He is an outlier and will make whoever drafts him quite happy.
