Former Tennessee Vols quarterback Nico Iamaleava officially committed to the UCLA Bruins on Sunday afternoon.

Iamaleava, a former five-star recruit, spent the first two seasons of his collegiate career at Tennessee.

The California native led the Vols to an appearance in the College Football Football Playoff this past season before surprisingly parting ways with Tennessee earlier this month.

Iamaleava's departure from Tennessee came amid reports of an NIL contract dispute along with reported concerns from his camp about the play of the Vols' offensive line and wide receiver group this spring.

Suffice it to say, the breakup between Iamaleava and Tennessee was ugly at best.

Despite the ugly and unexpected breakup, the reaction from current and former Vols to Iamaleava's commitment to UCLA has been extremely positive.

Here's a sample of social media reactions from Iamaleava's former teammates to the quarterback's commitment announcement.

Former Tennessee QB Gaston Moore, who spent two seasons playing alongside Iamaleava
Tennessee QB Jake Merklinger, who spent his true freshman season (2023) playing alongside Iamaleava. Merklinger also shared the quarterback room with Iamaleava this spring.
Former Tennessee returner Dee Williams, who was teammates with Iamaleava in 2023

There are plenty of other positive reactions to Iamaleava's announcement from current and former Vols.

We've seen a lot of negativity directed toward Iamaleava from Tennessee fans over the last 10 days. But that hasn't been the reaction from the players that actually spent time with Iamaleava on a day to day basis….
