The NFL moves quickly. A recent report regarding a former All-Pro defender has shaken up the free agency market for teams around the league.
Packers set to release CB Jaire Alexander
The Green Bay Packers are going to release cornerback Jaire Alexander. The move comes as no surprise after the two sides haven't come to an agreement on a revised contract. GB has also tried to trade Alexander this offseason – to no avail.

The New Orleans Saints could use another option at cornerback with NFL experience. As of now, their starting outside cornerbacks could be Kool-Aid McKinstry and Isaac Yiadom this season.
On the inside, Alontae Taylor is expected to hold the "star" role for Brandon Staley's unit. Alexander would immediately slot into a prominent role for New Orleans' defense if the Saints signed him off the free agency market.
How Jaire Alexander could fit with Saints
The price tag is an intriguing piece to the puzzle here. Alexander probably won't cost too much for any team, and a one-year contract feels most likely.
The veteran CB needs to prove to teams that he can stay healthy for a full season and also play at a high level on a consistent basis.
Tre'Davious White's 1 year, $4.25M contract (max $8M w/ incentives) from the #Rams last year is a likely starting point for Jaire Alexander in free agency. Cap-adjusting for 2025, Alexander could secure a deal that maxes out at $10M for the upcoming season.

For New Orleans, I would understand them showing some interest in adding Alexander to the fold. Alexander is still just 28 years old but has dealt with multiple notable injuries in recent seasons.
Considering the Saints moved off of Marshon Lattimore during last season, it may be less likely than some believe that they'll go after Alexander's services this offseason. Only time will tell.
