Injuries are the worst part of football. For the New Orleans Saints, they've dealt with far too many of them in recent years. This season, one of their most intriguing players won't be able to practice for the foreseeable future due to an ailment from last year.
Taysom Hill won't return soon
Kellen Moore discussed some injury updates on Thursday afternoon. Among them, he talked about utility player and fan favorite Taysom Hill.
Hill, along with veteran tight end Foster Moreau, won't be a part of the offseason process for the Saints. They will have to watch their teammates get reps in as they attempt to fully recover from major injuries they suffered a season ago. Both players will be forced to miss mandatory minicamp and OTAs for New Orleans.
Hill suffered a torn ACL in early December last year.
Hill won't practice until training camp, at the very least for New Orleans. His return to game action could be notable delayed – when you consider the severity of his injuries at his age.
An expectation for Taysom this season
It remains to be seen how Taysom gets used this season for New Orleans. There is a brand new staff in place, and they have probably never worked with a player quite like Hill.
If the 34-year-old Swiss Army Knife looking unlikely to miss the start of the regular season, too, it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility that he'll be a salary cap casualty with a cap hit of almost $18 million in 2025. — Rotoballer.com
With the injury included, his role may not mesh smoothly into the offense early in the season, either. It may take time to carve out how Kellen Moore and co. can best use his skillset – if he remains on the roster.
Regardless, at 34 years old, Hill needs to be completely recovered from last year's knee injury before he hits the field again for the Saints in any capacity.
