The quarterbacks will take the field on Saturday night of the NFL Scouting Combine, along with running backs and wide receivers. For fans of the Oregon Ducks, plenty of the top players on last season's squad will be taking the field to try and improve their draft stock.
Quarterback Dillon Gabriel spoke with the media and was asked about his top wide receiver, Tez Johnson, and he gushed about what the speedster will bring to an NFL locker room.
"Tez, amazing guy I'm very close to, but you just see a guy who's electric on the field, has played a lot of ball, but more importantly, has made an impact wherever he's been," Gabriel said. "He's extremely confident, but he already knows he's gonna go run a great 40. He's got amazing ball skills, but the type of person, the value he'll create in a locker room is unmatched."
For people that have been following the Ducks closely, it's well known that Johnson is a special playmaker and leader. He does everything the right way, he's a gritty competitor, and he plays much bigger than his size. That's an element to his game that people that don't follow him closely aren't talking enough about — his ability in physical situations, his grit, is the epitome of "it's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog." In heavyweight fights, Johnson shows up.
When the receivers take the field, Johnson will showcase his speed. Whichever team selects him will be getting one of the hardest-working, most competitor players in the league, with the talent and ability to go along with it.
