When it comes to figuring out team needs, NFL free agency always gives some great insight into what the teams are actually thinking. The Buffalo Bills are in the middle of an interesting offseason. They are one of the top teams in the NFL, and still need some extra help to finally get over that final hump to make a Super Bowl run.
The 2025 NFL Draft is a way to help Buffalo make that final push. Free agency has provided some clarity for just where the Bills might turn when the chaos officially begins in April. Both the biggest areas of need exist on the defensive side of the football.
With general manager Brandon Beane already having addressed wide receiver with the signing of Joshua Palmer, as well as a contract extension for Khalil Shakir, there is no massive need on the offensive side of the football. The signing of pass rusher Joey Bosa also found an answer on the edge.
The two biggest remaining needs are on the interior defensive line and at cornerback opposite of Christian Benford, a player the team wants to retain long-term for the future. On the defensive line, Buffalo did just sign former Los Angeles Rams contributor Michael Hoect and Larry Ogunjobi. That lends one to believe that the short-term health of the interior is in a good place.
At cornerback, it feels like it may be the most likely position of need at pick No. 30 in the first round. Luckily for Buffalo, this is a deeper cornerback class and there could be a ton of intriguing options on the board. That includes former ECU standout Shavon Revel Jr.
Revel is an extremely long cornerback at nearly 6-2 with over 32-inch arms. From a pure talent perspective, his profile is very reminiscent of former Pro Bowler Antonio Cromartie. He is long, smooth, and brings big time long speed. There is a lot to like with Revel, who probably would have been long gone if not for an injury this past season.
Another cornerback to keep a close eye on is former Kentucky star Maxwell Hairston. He is fresh off a 2025 NFL Scouting Combine where Hairston posted a forty-yard dash time of 4.28 seconds. The former Kentucky star has great transitional quickness and has long speed for days. He is one of the more gifted cover men in this class.
The great thing about the Bills roster is that Beane has put together an extremely balanced group. Whoever Buffalo ends up focusing on, particularly at cornerback, they can afford to be patient. That’s the best guess as far as who this team will target.
