The offseason is always filled with fun social media banter. The banter sometimes goes too far when trade rumors become a noticeable piece to a team's discussion ahead of the NFL Draft.
For Chris Olave of the New Orleans Saints, he heard the murmurs on social media that it could make sense for the team to trade him. He had a simple, but accurate, response to those baseless rumors last week on X/Twitter.
There's been no reports based in any sort of fact regarding the idea that the Saints are shopping their young wide receiver for draft compensation or other current NFL players. Regardless, we all know how social media can take a concept and run with it. Clearly, the Saints wideout has noticed these discussions.
Kellen Moore praises Chris Olave
Moore clearly has no plans to trade his top wide receiver. The new Saints head coach believes that Olave has a huge season on the horizon and a bright career, based on his latest comments from the NFL owners meetings.
"Chris Olave has had a huge impact on this team, he's going to have a huge impact (this season)."

The offensive play-caller for New Orleans going forward also said that Olave is a phenomenal player. Moore also mentioned that the team is comfortable with the wideout, even after some injury-riddled campaigns in New Orleans. They're not worried.
“Obviously we feel very comfortable about Chris, understand he’s been through a lot the last year or two. We feel like there’s a plan in place to continue to let him progress. Certainly I get the feeling that he’s really, really excited about this opportunity.”
— Kellen Moore
Trade rumors should end
With these comments, I do not see Olave getting dealt. It just never made sense. If the Saints see Derek Carr as their starter next season at quarterback after the draft, he needs targets, and Olave is arguably his best one on a consistent basis (when healthy).
On the flip-side, if the Saints go after a rookie QB, why would they move his best wideout immediately? That would only hinder a young QB's development and potential early in his career.
All in all, the trade discussions around Olave were never a reality. He'll be an important piece to Kellen Moore's offense in 2025 and potentially beyond.
New Orleans Saints 2025 draft picks released: Kellen Moore has tons of ammo to replenish the roster in his first offseason
The New Orleans Saints have made some notable moves during the first couple of waves of NFL free agency. Accordingly, their 2025 NFL Draft plans have come into focus with a plethora of different needs remaining. The Saints hold a top ten selection in round one. On day two, they currently hold three picks between […]
