The Oregon Ducks and Dan Lanning have been heavily linked to Jackson Cantwell, the top offensive lineman, and arguably the top overall recruit, in the 2026 class. They're firmly in the running to land his services, and a couple recent moves by Cantwell should have Ducks fans smiling.
When speaking with On3, Cantwell had nothing but the highest praise for Lanning throughout the recruiting process.
When asked which head coach has been his favorite throughout the recruiting process, he gave the nod to Lanning.
"I think my favorite head coach still to this day has been Dan Lanning. I think everyone can understand. Great guy. Missouri guy," Cantwell said. With Lanning, it is easy to say with. The leadership, the energy, and the passion that he brings to building his team as a family is something that consistently is drawing some of the best talent in the country to Oregon.
Cantwell also later pointed to the fact that Lanning wanted offensive line coach A'lique Terry on him ever since Lanning found out about him.
Cantwell just released his summer official visit list, and the Oregon Ducks get the last slot. Lanning, Terry, and the rest of the program will have a huge opportunity to leave a lasting final impression on Cantwell before he makes his decision on what program he will call home.
The Ducks are heavily looking into the trenches in the 2026 class. They already have commitment from OL Kodi Greene from Mater Dei, they're linked to elite offensive lineman Immanuel Iheanacho, and they're arguably the leaders for Cantwell. Oregon is making building through the trenches a huge priority, and is a signal that the program is emerging into a national powerhouse.
For the Ducks, the June 20th visit will be a massive moment in their 2026 recruiting class. Hopefully it will be the cherry on top that lands them a big time difference maker along the offensive line.
Dan Lanning just took a massive step toward landing elite player who can be the future face of the Oregon Ducks
This is nothing short of a huge moment.
