The New Orleans Saints have reportedly made their first major addition to their new coaching under head coach Kellen Moore. Moore is bringing a familiar face back to the Big Easy to coach a key position group for his offense.

Moore is wasting no time, adding a proven piece to his staff just a day after getting hired by the Saints.

Saints hire OL coach

According to Nick Underhill and Mike Triplett, the Saints are hiring Brendan Nugent as their new offensive line coach. He worked for New Orleans under Sean Payton from 2015-2021.

The offensive line was an incredibly consistent strength for the Saints under Nugent during that span. They had some top-tier talent during those years, but they also  navigated injuries effectively and made notable adjustments on a weekly basis.

Nugent also worked with Moore during the OC's single season with the Chargers. Nugent coached OL during that year with the new Saints HC as well.

He's well-versed in that area and holds plenty of respect from the Saints' organization.

Nugent will be a welcomed sight back on New Orleans' sideline. Expect more staff decisions to come for the Saints in the coming days and weeks, as they try to round out a staff late in the process.

Kellen Moore will have his introductory press conference on Thursday.
