The New Orleans Saints are hoping for a lot of improvement to their roster via their 2025 NFL Draft class. Their rookie group has some upside, and they also addressed major needs on both sides of the football. Quarterback Tyler Shough has stolen some headlines as their pick in round two, but Kellen Moore's first pick was quite important as well.
NFL insider Jeremy Fowler revealed some intriguing 2025 NFL Draft updates as the buzz following it dies down a bit.
New Orleans' first-round pick, offensive tackle Kelvin Banks Jr., got an intriguing comparison from an NFC executive.
Saints OT Kelvin Banks compared to Laremy Tunsil by exec
New Orleans went offensive line in the first round for the second consecutive year, but this particular move made sense around the league because Kelvin Banks Jr., in the eyes of scouts, was a clear-cut top-10 pick, despite many mock drafts having him in the teens throughout the process. Banks may slot in immediately at tackle for New Orleans as a rookie. He was clearly viewed as a lock for the top ten picks in this year's class, according to reports like Fowler's recently. The NFL was high on his talent and potential.
Keep in mind – this praise came from a front office member that works for a team in New Orleans' conference as well. He's probably being rather honest about Banks' potential in the NFL.
Living up to a Laremy Tunsil comparison will not be easy. Tunsil was one of the most consistent offensive linemen in the entire NFL for a chunk of years, but his play did see a bit more inconsistency in 2024.
Regardless, that would be a great outcome for the Saints if Banks' pro career mimics that of Tunsil. The veteran was traded to the Washington Commanders from the Houston Texans earlier this offseason.
