The Indianapolis Colts' 2025 undrafted rookie who has the best chance of earning a spot on the team's 53-man roster this year
Since finalizing their 2025 NFL Draft class, the Colts have been hard at work adding talent from the undrafted free agency market. There are a couple of intriguing UDFA's that the Colts are bringing into their rookie minicamp and training camp this summer. After looking at their list, one UDFA stands out from the rest as […]

Colts UDFA kicker Maddux Trujillo gets the chance to battle for the team's starting job in 2025

One of the positions I was most certain the Colts would look to aggressively add a quality undrafted free agent was kicker. The team elected to move on from Matt Gay this offseason after he didn't live up to his large contract he signed with the Colts ahead of the 2023 season. He would end up only spending two years with the team, and now the team will have a new starter in 2025.
The Colts signed Spencer Shrader in free agency and have now added Maddux Trujillo as a UDFA. Trujillo began his career at Austin Peay, where he spent three years. There, he attempted 53 field goals and made 38 of them. He transferred to Temple for his final season, and there he made a career-high 16 field goals after attempting 22, one of which was the longest of his career at 64 yards.
A big reason the Colts ended up moving on from Gay was his ineffectiveness when it came to 50-plus yard field goals over the last two years. So their interest in a kicker with a big leg like Trujillo isn't shocking. He attempted eight field goals from 50+ yards last year at Temple and made five of them. If he is able to come into training camp and make field goals consistently, his ability to pull off 60+ field goals could give him a leg up on Spencer Shrader in the upcoming kicker competition. Trujillo has by far the best chance to make the Colts' 53-man roster out of their current UDFA class, but there's more pressure here because if he makes the roster, that means he also earned the right to be an NFL starting kicker as a rookie. And if you are wondering if his 64-yarder at Temple was a fluke, here he is connecting for a 65-yarder at his Pro Day.
Way too early 53-man roster projection for the Indianapolis Colts following their selections in the 2025 NFL Draft
The Indianapolis Colts were able to address almost every need on their roster with their eight picks in the 2025 NFL Draft. The class should have solid impact on the field for the Colts with multiple of their picks projected to carve out a role during their rookie year. Their incoming rookie class will also […]
Some jerk tried to ruin new Colts TE Tyler Warren’s night before he was drafted in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft
Thursday was a day that new Indianapolis Colts TE Tyler Warren will never forget, as he heard his name called as a first round selection in the 2025 NFL Draft. Before he got the call from Chris Ballard and the Colts to be the 14th overall pick, though, someone thought it would be funny to pull […]
