The New Orleans Saints are currently in the middle of a head coaching search. While that unfolds, they have some potential movement along their staff when it comes to assistants.
Offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak has interest from other teams around the NFL. If a team wants to interview him for a lateral position, the Saints have to allow it. If he gets a head coach interview request, it must be approved by New Orleans since it would be a promotion.
Klint Kubiak
According to sources, two teams have already requested to interview Saints offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak for their open OC position.
Kubiak will interview with the Cleveland Browns on Monday. Then, he will interview with the Seattle Seahawks on Tuesday. Both moved on from their offensive coordinator recently and are on the search for a replacement.
Saints general manager Mickey Loomis spoke to the media on Monday. He gave a notable update when it comes to the future staff for the Saints.
Their new head coach will have no limitations when it comes to assistants. No current assistants are "locks" to return under a new HC in New Orleans. That coach will have the freedom to create their own staff.
This past season was Kubiak's first with the Saints. His campaign started off with a bang, as New Orleans' offense motored through the first two weeks. As injuries piled up, though, it slowed down as the season unwound.
Regardless, we will see if Kubiak lands elsewhere as an OC before the Saints hire a new head coach. He is an intriguing, young candidate for teams around the league.
