Riding a four-game skid and taking on one of the hottest teams in the sport, the Pittsburgh Steelers need everyone to take on the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday.
That includes being healthy along the offensive line, as Pittsburgh's ground game is going to have to be strong to pull off the upset.
Well, that task just got a lot harder…
Steelers Injury Update
"A couple things to update. Cam Heyward, obviously, is sick. I think he stated so after the game, [I] gave him the day off in an effort to put that behind him so it doesn't affect his preparation as we lean in on this game. Mason McCormick has a broken hand. He'll be sized for a cast and or a brace and check functionality there. And so his participation in the quality his participation will kind of be an indication of his potential availability as we push forward."
McCormick is a fourth-round rookie from South Dakota State. He is filling in for James Daniels, who is on IR with a torn Achilles. The rookie was meant to be a part of the team's future up front, but he's been thrust into a starting role and performed very well.
"Donte Jackson was held out last week with ongoing back issues," added Coach Tomlin. "He feels good this morning, but again, we'll watch him throughout the course of the week and see what his specific participation does in terms of the possibility of his inclusion…
"…Then there's some other bumps and bruises associated with play that may affect some people at the early portions of the week, but I don't think will be a major factor when it comes to dividing the labor up and determining who plays and who doesn't at the latter part of the week."
if McCormick can't go, expect the Steelers to call up someone from the practice squad as they currently house eight linemen on the active roster. Wednesday's practice report will be huge for McCormick.
