Just for tonight, New York is a bandwagon Philadelphia Eagles fan.
After the Eagles pulled off a historic 55-23 NFC championship win over the Washington Commanders on Sunday night, the Empire State Building lit up green.
"I’m sorry I have to do this.
"Shining in @Eagles colors in honor of their NFC Championship win," the admin behind the official Empire State Building's x/Twitter wrote.
This isn't the first time the Empire State Building turned green in honor of the Birds winning. They also did it back in 2022 when the Eagles took down the New York Giants, 38-7, in the divisional round and ultimately en route to Super Bowl LVII.
However, there is one reason why this time is much better than the last, and it's because the Eagles may not have made it this far if it weren't for former Giants running back Saquon Barkley.
The Giants let Barkley walk in NFL free agency last March and he has been Philly's identity all year long.
Barkley, who is a 2024 MVP award finalist, finished Sunday's win running all over Washington for 118 yards and three touchdowns.
So now, one of New York's tallest buildings flashing green is just another reminder for the Giants that they foolishly let Barkley get away.
The Empire State Building's official X account did mention they plan to change to color of the lights later tonight to the winner of the AFC Championship Game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills.
